Cycle Ranch Motocross Park

Cycle Ranch Motocross Park is South Texas's home base for serious motocross, 100+ acres on County Road 405 in Floresville, about 30 minutes southeast of San Antonio. The facility opened in 1998 under Matt and Lana Walker and has grown into one of the most complete motocross destinations in the southern United States. The headline attribute is the dirt: a famous red mix of loamy clay and sand that drinks Texas rain, holds prep through the hottest summer practice days, and develops the deep ruts and natural berms that reward proper technique. Riders who travel from harder-pack Midwest tracks routinely call it the best dirt in Texas.

Six riding areas cover every kind of laps. The 1.7-mile National track is built to championship-qualifier standard, with the rhythm sections, doubles, and elevation changes the amateur national circuit demands. A fully lit night track runs Thursday night practice until 10pm and hosts the Motomania Saturday night race series. A dedicated vet track, a scaled-down kids track, several cornering-focused turn tracks, and woods trails through the ranch property round out the moto side, and there is even an RC car track for the pit crowd. The prep program is deliberately staggered so something is always fresh: the night track gets dialed Thursday, the National closes Fridays for a full rebuild and reopens groomed Saturday morning, and by Monday the rough, choppy conditions make for honest endurance training.

Practice runs 7 days a week, 9am to dusk, closed only for special events or extreme weather. An adult day ride pass is $45, with youth (12 and under), 3-day, general admission, spectator, and pit vehicle passes bookable online to skip the gate line; cash and card both work at the gate.

Cycle Ranch is also one of the few Texas tracks where you can show up without a bike. The rental fleet spans Stacycs, PW50s, and CRF pit bikes up to YZ, KX, and Triumph race machines. Learn to Ride group lessons run Saturday mornings with USMCA-certified coaching, private lessons are available daily, an intermediate and advanced training program covers cornering, jumping, starts, and line selection, and kids' 5-day summer camps fill out the school calendar. Go-kart rides on Saturday afternoons keep non-riding family in the fun.

Staying over is easy: 30 RV sites with water and electric hookups (select spots with septic) at $60 a night, shaded tent and dry RV camping at $20, monthly RV spots for track regulars, and on-site cabins from $150 a night steps from the UpTop Cafe, which pours lattes and serves smoothies, salads, and burgers on weekends. Permanent restrooms with showers, a playground, a giant pavilion, and a pro shop cover the rest.

The race calendar exceeds 20 events per year, including Loretta Lynn's Area Qualifiers, USA Motocross Championships rounds, and Texas State Championship Series dates. Floresville is far enough out of San Antonio to feel like real Texas country but close enough that hotels and the airport are under an hour; Houston is three hours east, Austin two hours north, Corpus Christi two hours south.
