Oregon Motocross.

Pacific Northwest weather, and the riding calendar plans around it. Albany MX over in the Willamette valley is the central-Oregon anchor, High Desert MX out east in dry country, Madras Speedway, Eugene MX. The valley tracks ride wet for half the year and the high-desert tracks ride dry the other half, which means the scene rotates geographically with the seasons. Soil ranges from black-loam volcanic in the valley to decomposed-granite hardpack out east. Season is technically year-round depending on how you slice it; the practical season runs April through October at most venues. Northwest Motocross series is the regional points circuit and pulls riders from Washington and Idaho. The valley rain gear is real: vented rain jacket, wet-weather goggles, a chain that's freshly lubed. Riders here are statistically the most likely to keep going through a sprinkle that would shut down anywhere else. Bring a towel for the trailer floor.
