New Mexico Motocross.

High desert and a scene that sits at the end of a few different regional circuits. Aztec Motocross up in the Four Corners area, Heart Bar Motocross Ranch, Heaven Motorsports Park, Gallup OHV. Most New Mexico tracks live above 5,000 feet and the bike (and the rider) feel it. Soil is decomposed granite, sandy loam, occasionally rocky in the wrong places. Season runs roughly late March through October with serious afternoon thunderstorms in July and August that can stop a weekend in an hour. The Four Corners region pulls riders from Arizona, Colorado, and Utah into New Mexico weekends. Albuquerque metro has its own scene that's smaller than the geography suggests. Mountain States series covers a lot of the points racing and AMA District 22 (which spans into Texas and Arizona at edges) handles the rest. Goggle tear-offs and a clean filter spare are what every local has in their gear bag.
