Maryland Motocross.

Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville hosts the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross National every June and that one weekend defines a lot of how Maryland thinks about motocross. The track itself sits in southern Maryland tobacco country and the layout has barely changed in decades because it doesn't need to. Outside Budds Creek you've got Promised Land MX, Speed Citi, Shady Acres, the Southern Maryland ATV park for the off-road crowd. Soil is a sand-loam mix that drains well after rain and prepares beautifully under a deep till. Season runs late March through November with the national weekend in early June pulling pros down from the East Coast circuit. AMA District 7 covers most of the points racing in the area and the Loretta Lynn's regional qualifier circuit hits Maryland hard. The drive from DC to most tracks is under 90 minutes; if you live inside the Beltway, dirt is closer than you think.
