High desert and a tight, quality-over-quantity track list. Idaho Falls Raceway (the Noise Park) in the east, Magic Valley Motocross around Twin Falls, OMC (Owyhee Motorcycle Club) on the west side near Boise, Pocatello TMX for the southeast riders. Most Idaho tracks live above 4,000 feet, so altitude factors into bike setup just like Colorado. Season runs late April through October on the southern tracks, narrower up north where snow lingers. The soil tends toward decomposed-granite hardpack with some loamy patches at the better-prepped venues. Wind is the wildcard; some afternoons it stops the dust and some afternoons it brings it sideways across the track. The Northwest Motocross series spans the regional calendar and pulls riders from Oregon and Washington into Idaho weekends. Snake River fishing on the off days is part of why some riders end up here from California and never go back. Carry a 22-tooth front and a clean air filter spare; the desert dust gets into everything.
