Buckman MX Track

Buckman MX Track is that rarest of things in American motocross: a genuinely free, city-owned public track. Managed by the City of Santa Fe off NM-599 beside the La Tierra Trails system, the property packs four riding areas: a long, fast natural-terrain MX track winding through the junipers, an ATV track, a dirt bike single track, and a fenced-in kids track for the smallest riders.

The facility just got a major reinvestment: a $140,000 New Mexico DOT grant (plus roughly $20,000 from the city) rebuilt sections of the track and installed a water tank and pump house, so the notoriously dry surface now gets real dust control. The work closed the track over the winter and it reopened to riders in spring 2026, better than it has ever been.

There is no gate fee: ride free on weekend practice days. For Santa Fe riders it is the hometown gate, and for Albuquerque and Los Alamos riders it is an easy scenic run up 599 to dirt that costs nothing but gas.
