What riders find
Red Rock MX, officially the City of Gallup OHV MX Park, is 300 acres of high-desert motorsports in Gallup, New Mexico, and a primary hub for motocross and off-highway riding in the Four Corners. Run by the Red Rock Motorsports Club, the main event is a 1.2-mile natural-terrain motocross track on classic Southwest dirt, deep sand sections mixed with clay-based hard-pack that builds wide, sweeping berms and technical jumps. There is a dedicated pee-wee track for youth and first-timers, and beyond the motos, 10 to 20 miles of desert single-track loop through the Hasler Valley canyons for the quad and trail crowd.
Red Rock is a recurring host for the New Mexico Motocross Championship Series and the staging grounds for the annual Red Rock 100, an endurance desert race across open country and single-track. For the arenacross fans, the nearby Red Rock Park Arena, a 5,000-seat dirt coliseum carved into the sandstone cliffs, draws pro tour stops like the Finish Line Promotions Xtreme Arenacross and Mud Bog Show. Come prepared, though: this is a rugged, dry, primitive setup.
The OHV and trail sections run daily sunrise to sunset, main-track access is for Red Rock Motorsports Club members (annual memberships run about $40), and there is no water or power on site, so haul your own water, fuel, and tools.
