Profile

What riders find at High Desert MX.

High Desert MX in Silver Lake, Oregon is a central Oregon high-desert motocross track, regularly groomed and watered for a smooth surface with deep berms. It sits in genuinely remote eastern Oregon terrain, a different world from the wet valley and coastal climates that shape most of the state's tracks. The prep program is the difference-maker out here. High-desert dirt wants to dry into powder, and plenty of dry-country tracks lose their surface to dust by mid-season. High Desert's regular grooming and watering keeps the dirt workable, and the deep berms give riders real cornering work instead of flat, blown-out turns. The track is open weekends year-round, weather permitting. That is the payoff of the dry climate: while western Oregon tracks shut down for the winter rain, the high desert stays rideable through most of the year. Primitive camping on-site covers weekend stays. There are no full hookups; the trade-off is real high-desert riding without crowds or complicated access. High Desert MX sits in Lake County off Highway 31. Riders in Silver Lake, Christmas Valley, Bend, Burns, and La Pine along the Highway 31 and US-97 corridors are closest, Klamath Falls riders come north, and eastern Oregon and Idaho riders head west for the desert riding.
