Murphys MX

Murphys MX is a family run motocross park in Red Rock, Texas, about thirty minutes east of Austin, with four distinct riding areas on one property. The 1.5 mile main track gets fully prepped every weekend and runs real elevation change, banked turns, and split sections over a sandy topsoil mix that takes water well. The 0.8 mile night track, also prepped weekly, carries some of the best lighting in Texas and is open for practice all day (Friday night sessions are paused for now). A dedicated kid track, groomed and watered Saturday and Sunday mornings, is reserved strictly for 50cc and 65cc riders and beginners, no big bikes allowed on it. Rounding it out is a 3 to 3.5 mile one way hare scramble trail winding through trees and gullies. William and Christie Murphy have run the place with their twin sons Colton and Evan since 2012, and the family touch shows in consistent prep and predictable weekend hours: Saturdays and Sundays 9 AM to 4 PM, with organized kids and women's practice blocks on the main at 11, noon, 2, and 3. Practice runs $35 for big bikes, $30 for 85s, and $20 for 50s and 65s, spectators are free outside race days, and dry camping is $15 a night (no RV hookups, no open campfires). Dirt bikes only, no quads on the tracks or trails. Murphys also hosts AMA Texas State Championship Series South rounds. Riders in Bastrop, Elgin, Lockhart, and Smithville treat it as home turf, and it is an easy haul from Austin or San Marcos on US-71 or SH-21. Call before you haul.

The fourth riding area is the one people forget: a 3 to 3.5 mile trails and hare scramble loop running through trees and gullies. It is ONE WAY ONLY, so ride it in the direction posted.

Kids and women get the main track to themselves in organized 20 minute blocks on Saturdays and Sundays, at 11:00, 12:00, 2:00 and 3:00.

TRACK RULES. First gear only in the pits. NO open fires, NO four wheelers, and NO double riding. If you camp, you take your own trash out with you.
