West Texas Motocross Park

West Texas Motocross Park is the Permian Basin's only major motocross facility, a nonprofit one-mile track between Midland and Odessa off Highway 80. In a region where the alternative is a multi-hour highway haul, WTMXP is the local motocross calendar.

The main track is lighted, which matters here. West Texas summer heat makes daytime riding brutal from June through September, and the lights open up evening sessions, the real riding window for the hot months.

Membership is $300 a year for full access, and public open days run every Wednesday and Saturday, plus race days on the calendar. The midweek Wednesday session is a rarity; most regional tracks are weekend-only, so working riders here get a real midweek option.

Run by riders, for riders is the honest description. The track exists because local Permian Basin riders organized and funded it themselves rather than accept long hauls to Amarillo, Lubbock, or DFW-area tracks, and that community ownership shapes the whole place.
