10th Street Motocross

10th Street Motocross in Ronkonkoma, New York is one of Long Island's last surviving dirt bike tracks. Most big American metros pushed motocross out to the far suburbs decades ago, and Long Island specifically has lost most of its riding spots over the years. 10th Street held on.

The track covers 6-plus acres of carefully groomed motocross terrain. The footprint is modest, but small tracks tend to get more attention per lap, and 10th Street's reputation among Long Island riders comes from exactly that: consistent, well-maintained dirt.

The schedule is the other half of the value. The track runs daily, 7 days a week from 10am to 7pm, weather permitting. Daily public access to a motocross track anywhere on Long Island is rare, and the 9-hour window means you can actually build practice into a normal week instead of saving it for one weekend a month.

Ronkonkoma sits in central Suffolk County, and Long Island's narrow shape means the track is a reasonable drive from both the North Shore and South Shore. The Long Island Expressway puts most of the Island within reach, and New York City is about 90 minutes west via the LIE. For riders who do not want to run out to the Calverton area or further east, 10th Street is the everyday answer, a track that has kept its ground despite the land-use pressure that closed so many others.
