Claverack MX

Claverack MX, known affectionately to local riders as The Rack or Mini-Dilla, is one of the oldest, most prestigious, and most respected natural motocross tracks in Upstate New York. Set on a scenic, historic working farm in Columbia County near Hudson, it has been family-owned and continuously run since 1971.

What makes Claverack special is what it refuses to do. While most modern tracks get reshaped by heavy machinery, Claverack has stayed true to a classic, all-natural, European-style layout that honors the roots of the sport. The course weaves through lush grassy infields and natural hillsides on the active farm, with the kind of vantage points and old-school feel that earn it comparisons to the famous Unadilla Pro National, hence the Mini-Dilla nickname.

The soil is the legend. Claverack is world-famous in the Northeast for its deep, rich, dark loam that develops massive ruts, braking bumps, and technical lines as a race weekend wears on. Riders launch off a concrete starting pad into the first corner, and from there the track leans on the natural rolling hills for elevation, drops, and sweepers rather than dangerous supercross-style doubles and triples. To protect those pristine loamy ruts and jump faces, it is strictly bikes-only: quads and ATVs are not permitted.

Here is the most unusual thing about Claverack: it has never held a public open practice day. The dirt is fiercely preserved all year, and the only way to ride the legendary loam is to register and race one of just four major event weekends. Claverack is a cornerstone of the Metropolitan Sports Committee (MSC) Family Motocross series, and an MSC membership is required to race. The 2026 schedule runs the Spring Opener on April 26, the Scott Sheak Memorial (honoring the late local factory racer and multi-time champion) on May 17, the Summer Bracket on August 2, and the Bob Brew Memorial (honoring the track's beloved promoter and patriarch) on September 13.

Spectator admission is typically $10, with kids under 12 who are not competing getting in free, and race class entry runs $25 per class. They accept all regional district rider cards and do not require an AMA card. On race days you will find ample hillside trailer parking, a trackside concession stand serving food all day, and on-site cold showers to rinse the deep roost off after a long moto. Pit bikes and golf carts are not allowed on the grounds.
