BRO MX (Berkshire Riders Organization)

BRO MX, the Berkshire Riders Organization, is a motocross facility on South State Street in North Adams, tucked into the Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts. For riders in the Berkshires it is one of very few real motocross options that does not involve driving across the state.

The thing that sets it apart is the ground it is built on. The track sits on a flood plain, which makes it virtually ROCK FREE, and that is genuinely unusual for New England, where most tracks fight rocks working their way to the surface all season. The soil is an intermediate type that riders describe as dark and grippy, holding clean ruts and supportive berms.

The layout runs roughly three quarters of a mile to a mile, built with rollers, tabletops, doubles and a mix of small to large jumps that link naturally. It is deliberately approachable: gentle enough that an absolute beginner or a kid can learn on it, and flowing enough to keep a fast A rider interested. That makes it a good place to build confidence or drill slow rut technique without being punished for it.

Practice is organized rather than a free-for-all, and the Wednesday format is worth understanding before you drive out. From 1 PM to 3 PM it is BIG BIKE ONLY. Minis do not go out until 3, and from then the track runs 15 minute rotating groups: A/B, then C, then MINI. Turning up at 1 with a mini rider means waiting two hours. Weekend sessions run the same 15 minute group rotation, splitting Expert/Amateur, Novice and small bikes from 50 to 85cc, so big bikes and kids never share the track.

Bike practice runs Wednesday 1 PM to 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday 10 AM to 4 PM, at $50 a day for weekdays or weekends alike. Private track days run on weekdays, so call ahead if you want one.

Memberships are priced on whether you are returning or new. A single membership is $750 returning or $850 new. A family membership is $950 returning or $1,050 new, which covers the first two direct family members, and each additional family member is another $200. You can buy a membership at the track, so you do not have to sort it in advance.

BRO regularly hosts clinics from the bigger regional and national training outfits, including The Moto Academy, The MX Factory and MXU Training, which run weekday private instruction on the property.

On site there is parking, limited concessions, and a small stock of common parts if something breaks trackside. Restrooms are portable. The property is shared with a working MINI-GOLF COURSE, which sounds like a novelty until you turn up with family members who do not ride and need something to do.

One rule the track repeats constantly: ALWAYS CHECK THEIR POSTS. Weather in the Berkshires can shut a day down at short notice, midweek sessions included, so read Facebook or Instagram before you load up. Bring the required gear, helmet, goggles and boots at minimum.
