JJ's MX Park

JJ's MX Park is Martha's Vineyard's motocross track, and for island riders it is the difference between riding and taking a ferry. Operated by Jermaine "JJ" Mendez on Martha's Vineyard Airport property at the corner of Edgartown-West Tisbury Road and Barnes Road, the track sits in a circular arena with high dirt walls that keep the sound in, a design that has let moto coexist with island neighbors since the track's 2020 revival.

The terrain is friendly by design: loose dirt with a little sand, no rocks, hardpack, steep hills, or water crossings, loaded with berms and a full range of small and large jumps. The layout centers on intermediate riders, with genuine beginner sections and just enough spice for experts to stay entertained.

Practice runs Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends, with day passes at the gate and monthly or annual memberships for regulars. The rules are firm: dirt bikes only (no ATVs, UTVs, or 4x4s) and no camping on the property.

For Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Vineyard Haven riders it is the island's only gate, and a genuinely rare thing: a working motocross track on a New England resort island.

Two house details round out the picture. The safety rule is absolute: nobody rides unless at least one other rider is at the facility, a buddy system that makes sense on an island where help is never around the corner. And the pricing stays simple, roughly $25 for a day pass with a $500 yearlong membership that the local regulars favor.
