Buttonwoods MX in Richmond is officially Rhode Island's only legal public motocross track. That matters in a state this size: most New England states have a handful of tracks, Rhode Island has exactly one, and Buttonwoods is it. Every rider in the state who wants legal practice runs through this property.

The main track is a 1.25-mile mixed-terrain layout with trees, elevation changes, and a jump selection that works from beginner through pro. The mixed terrain means the track rides differently as the surface develops through a session, and the variety lets one layout serve the full range of skill levels instead of forcing a choice between accessible and challenging.

The schedule fits the New England calendar: Wednesday through Friday from noon to dusk, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm. The midweek afternoon-to-dusk window suits working riders, and the weekend midday hours serve the family practice crowd. Quads are allowed on Sundays, which gives Rhode Island ATV riders a legal option the rest of the state does not offer.

Pricing is $55 per rider for an all-day pass, with $1,000 season passes available, and the kids track rides free. The single-rate structure keeps things simple, and Venmo is accepted for day passes.

Richmond sits in Washington County in southern Rhode Island. Providence is about 30 minutes north on I-95, Newport 45 minutes east, and Hartford, Connecticut roughly 90 minutes northwest, which pulls riders from all of Rhode Island plus eastern Connecticut and southeastern Massachusetts.
