MX Twenty-Three MX23

MX Twenty-Three, better known as MX23, is a natural-terrain motocross park on Quaboag Street in Brookfield, Massachusetts, in Worcester County hill country. The track is regularly groomed and watered, and the loamy, sandy soil holds tacky lines early and ruts into rhythm tests by afternoon. Two tracks split the property, the main motocross loop and a peewee track that keeps the youngest riders clear of full-size traffic.

MX23 is open seven days a week in season: Monday through Friday from 1 PM to dusk and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Thursdays start early with Kids Only practice from 11 to 2 for 85cc and under, and Fridays run a Vet (30+) and Women session from 11 to 2, with open practice to dusk after both. Dirt bikes are $50 a day. Quads are welcome too, at $80 for adults and $60 for kids, and in winter the property has hosted snowmobiles, which keeps it serving the whole off-road crowd year round.

No bike? MX23 rents YCF Pilot pit bikes for use at the track, from $125 for the first hour to $400 for a full day, and the on-site pro shop sells parts and gear and is an authorized STACYC and YCF dealer that also carries GPX Moto and Kove. Memberships run $1,000 for a single dirt bike rider or $1,500 for an immediate family, and they include 10% off parts and accessories, free showers, a free bike wash and members-only BBQ ride days. The property also has vault toilets, and coaching comes in through visiting programs such as Ronnie Stewart Racing's one-day riding schools, including mini-only days for 50cc and 65cc riders ages 4 to 11.

Want to stay trackside? MX23 rents on-site Airbnb lodging with TV, air conditioning, a bathroom and a kitchen: $349 a weeknight or $549 a weekend night for up to four, and $549 or $699 for six to eight, with a two-night minimum, a $500 deposit and 20% off ride day tickets while you stay.

Before you ride, fill out the online waiver and bring a signed paper copy to the track; minors need a notarized waiver plus a guardianship form. Required gear for every rider is a helmet, goggles, long pants, long sleeves, gloves and boots over the ankle. Pits are 5 mph, no burnouts, riders cannot use alcohol, and pets stay leashed.
