Capeway Rovers Motocross

Capeway Rovers Motocross in Carver, Massachusetts is the oldest motocross track on the East Coast. The Capeway Rovers Motorcycle Club began in 1934 in Bourne and moved to Middleboro in 1951; after its original track behind Chase Chevrolet was taken by eminent domain, the club bought the current 60-acre lot among the cranberry bogs for scrambles and TT racing, and it now hosts motocross only. Every hot New England rider has tasted the dirt here: Dick Bettencourt, Jo Jo Keller, Jim Meenan, Jimmy Ellis, Doug Henry, John Dowd, Pat Barton and Keith Johnson have all put in laps, and old-timers claim Dick Roy built a backward-falling starting gate here before Southwick made it famous. The layout was rebuilt for 2026, so walk the course when you arrive.

Racing runs under NCSC, the New Capeway Sports Committee, which puts on the Capeway Rovers Championship Series on Sundays from late winter through the fall with Olympic scoring each moto and championship points for members, plus NEMX and QXNE dates and the Capeway Classic in June. A race weekend opens the gate the night before from 4 to 9 PM with sign-up 4 to 6, then 6:30 AM on race day with sign-up 7 to 9, the riders meeting at 8:45 at the bleachers, practice at 9 and racing right after. Practice runs 65cc, non-race and mini electric bikes, 85cc, 50cc, A and B, vet, then C and women; the Sunday race order covers 50 Open through 40+, 65s, 250 and 450 A, B and C, Supermini, Schoolboy, Open classes, 50+ and 55+, Womens and Girls. The 250 A and 450 A classes pay 257 percent per moto and the Open, 30 and 40 A classes pay per day, the highest expert payback in New England.

Gate is $20 per person with under 4 free and the wristband stays on all weekend. Entry is $40 per class for NCSC members ($75 a year) or with a $10 one-day membership, a $5 orange mechanics band is required for anyone 18 and up in the mechanics area (50cc parents included), and every rider needs a charged MyLaps transponder, rentable for $10 a day with a deposit. Riders bring proof of medical insurance to sign-up or do not ride, minors need a notarized two-parent release on file (notarized at the track with both parents and photo IDs), no machines start before 9 AM, and there are no pit vehicles, pit bikes, golf carts, scooters, e-bikes or bicycles on race days. Youth classes wear chest and back protection. The facility runs MyLaps scoring, an ambulance on site, plenty of parking, restrooms open all night, a heated and air-conditioned eat-in restaurant with a breakfast and lunch menu, and Burns Bike and Auto for trackside support, with announcements on 96.5 FM.
