66 acres overlooking Skaneateles Lake & Finger Lakes. 5+ tracks including a lit night track. Friday night racing.
What riders find
Frozen Ocean Motocross in Auburn, New York sits on 66 acres overlooking Skaneateles Lake, which makes it one of the most scenic places to ride motocross in the Northeast. The Finger Lakes view across the back of the property is the kind of backdrop most tracks simply do not have.
The 1.2-mile main track runs tabletops, singles, doubles, and triples over natural rolling terrain. The jump variety covers the full skill range, from beginners working their first tabletops to experts attacking the triples, and the grade changes are built into the land itself rather than pushed up with a dozer. It is a layout that rewards riders who can read terrain.
The main track is only the start. Frozen Ocean runs five-plus tracks: a stadiumcross track for rhythm-section and SX-format practice, a lit night track that hosts Friday night racing under the lights, a 50cc kids track, a separate practice loop, an ATV track, and a go-kart clay oval. A household with mixed machines can find dedicated dirt for every one of them without leaving the property. The dirt itself is loam that holds tacky lines through the day, typical of Finger Lakes glacial soil, and the concrete starting pad gives consistent grip on the most critical 100 feet of every moto.
The amenities are built for multi-day stays: electric campsites with water hookups, a dump station for RVs, full concessions, and flush toilets. Racing pulls from several calendars at once, with CNYMRA District 3, WNYRacing, and Upstate MX series rounds all running here, so a single Frozen Ocean round can count for points in more than one program. The gate fee is $10, an easy number for riders and spectators alike.
Auburn is in Cayuga County in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, about 30 minutes west of Syracuse via Interstate 90 and 90 minutes east of Rochester. Thruway access puts the track within weekend range of most of central and western New York.
Frozen Ocean Motorsports Facility spreads 66 acres above Skaneateles Lake outside Auburn, a staple of the Upstate New York scene since the Denman family opened it in 1987 and now run by owner Ryan Walczak. The riding menu is enormous: the 1.2-mile main motocross track in rich NY loam with a concrete starting pad and rolling elevation, a high-speed supercross track, the NiteX night-cross track under stadium lights, a scaled 50cc track for the little ones, a dedicated ATV and side-by-side loop, plus a clay oval for karting and heavy-duty mud bog pits. Wednesday open practice (4 to dark, April through October) is the weekly ritual at $20 on the main track or $15 on the 50cc track, and event weekends run about $10 at the gate. The campground side is fully developed with electric sites, drinkable water hookups, a dump station, flush toilets, a big pavilion, merch shops, and a concession trailer, and primitive camping is free with entry on the big race weekends like the signature Weekend of Champions. The calendar goes well past moto: the Frozen Ocean Rodeo brings live bull riding each summer, mud bog weekends stack mud trucks with live bands and fire truck rides, and pro night races pull the region's fastest under the lights.
