Thomaston Dam Trail Bike Park

Thomaston Dam Trail Bike Park is a 12-mile, 800-acre trail system along the scenic Naugatuck River in Thomaston, Connecticut, managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Federal management is the reason substantial public dirt-bike terrain exists in central Connecticut at all.

Twelve miles of trail across 800 acres makes this Connecticut's top destination for dirt bike trail riders, and in a state where dedicated riding land is scarce, that ranking means something.

The terrain is moderate, with ruts, mud, and rocky sections. That range gives intermediate and advancing riders real challenges without demanding expert-level technical skill, so developing riders get genuine terrain without being in over their heads on the first loop.

Trail bikes only; no ATVs. The motorcycle-only policy keeps the trail surfaces in bike-friendly condition, and the riverside setting along the Naugatuck adds real scenery to the ride.

The park is open seasonally, May 1 through October 14, with a clean restroom at the main staging area.

Thomaston Dam sits in Litchfield County in western Connecticut. Riders in Thomaston, Watertown, Waterbury, Torrington, and Bristol along the Route 8 and Route 6 corridors have everyday access.
