Profile

What riders find at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park (Englishtown).

Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, known to the motocross world simply as Englishtown, is one of the most historically significant motorsports venues in the Northeast and a true bucket-list track for any amateur motocross racer. Founded in 1965 by the Napp family with a drag strip, motocross was added in 1975 and the facility has been a cornerstone of New Jersey racing ever since. The property's combination of drag, road course, autocross, kart, and motocross under a single ownership is rare in American motorsports and reflects the founding family's vision of a true multi-discipline complex. The 1-mile main motocross track combines hard-packed sections with sandy stretches, a uniquely demanding mix that rewards riders who can adapt their lines as conditions change through the day. The soil shifts through a single moto in a way that exposes weaknesses in riders who learned on uniform-dirt tracks, and the layout uses the natural rolling terrain of central New Jersey rather than fighting it. Most famously, Englishtown hosted the legendary 1983 Husqvarna White Lightning Supercross plus multiple additional supercross events through the years, but the heart and soul of the facility is the annual Kawasaki Race of Champions every first weekend of October. The ROC has run for decades, drawing thousands of amateur racers from across the East Coast and beyond. For many Northeast motocross families, it is THE big race of the year, the one weekend you plan vacations and time off around. Outside the marquee October weekend, Englishtown runs open practice every Wednesday and most weekends from March through end of November. The property closes for winter (the SEASONAL designation reflects the Northeast climate, not any operational limitation) and reopens in early spring. Camping is available during major event weekends. Beyond motocross, the property is a multi-discipline motorsports complex with road course, drag strips, autocross, and a kart track, making it one of the most diverse motorsports venues in America. Spectators with mixed interests can watch a drag event Friday, a road course race Saturday, and a motocross practice Sunday on the same property. Located in central New Jersey just off the Garden State Parkway, easy access from New York City (1 hour), Philadelphia (90 minutes), and the entire New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania tri-state area. The combination of historical pedigree, central Northeast location, and the Kawasaki Race of Champions tradition makes Englishtown impossible to skip if you ride motocross in this part of the country. (732) 446-7800. For anyone searching for motocross tracks in New Jersey, MX tracks near New York City, or one of the longest-running multi-discipline motorsports complexes in the Northeast, Old Bridge Township Raceway Park is the answer with the deepest history.
