Pax Trax Motocross Park

Pax Trax MX Resort in Bunnell, Florida is the rare six-day-a-week motocross facility, a full-service operation that has been running since 1995 on North State Street about 30 minutes north of Daytona Beach. Three fully irrigated tracks cover everyone: the one-mile main track for intermediate and pro riders, an intermediate track as the step between beginner and full pace, and a pee-wee and pit bike track for 50cc and 65cc kids. The dirt is loam mixed with sand that holds tacky lines through the day when watered, and the irrigation keeps the place rideable through the Florida heat that shuts down tracks that cannot water.

The resort side is what separates Pax Trax from a plain practice track. The RV campground has 30 amp and 50 amp sites from $50 a night, booked online with clean bathrooms and showers, so families can roll in and stay. Cita's Cafe serves trackside breakfast sandwiches, coffee, lunch and the house chocolate cake, and the on-site service center, a factory Cobra dealer with more than 50 years of combined wrenching experience, handles everything from routine maintenance to full engine rebuilds at $81 an hour with a $40 minimum, plus tire changes. The Moto Stop pro shop stocks gear, parts and accessories, and the track also sells used race bikes.

Open practice runs Thursday, Saturday and Sunday with the week filled out by coaching: Prodigy MX Training sessions for 85cc-and-up riders, a Wednesday evening Little Bike MX School at $70 per rider, Saturday Big Bike Training, and The Moto Academy 5-day camp each November. Minors need the online minor release signed by a parent, and a parent or guardian has to be present for camps. Check the Facebook page for the current week before you haul.
