East Bay Motocross / Tampa MX

East Bay Motocross, also known as Tampa MX, is the only dedicated motocross track in Tampa, Florida. In a metro the size of Tampa Bay there is exactly one true motocross track, and this is it. For local riders wondering where to ride, the answer is one line long.

The track opened in 2010 and runs a Supercross-style layout on imported hardpack dirt that holds up year-round. The soil is part of the story: screened loamy black topsoil over a hardpack base corners tackier than pure sand, and the imported dirt stays workable through Florida's wet season while pure-clay tracks turn unrideable.

Open practice runs Wednesday, Thursday, and weekends, weather permitting, with Thursday and Friday nights reserved for private rentals. Tuesday night riding lessons run 6:30 to 9:30, taught by local pro riders, which is where a lot of the metro's newer riders get their start. Daily and annual passes are both available.

Access is off Burts Road, within 20 to 30 minutes of downtown Tampa, St. Pete, Brandon, Riverview, Plant City, and the rest of Hillsborough County. Sarasota and Bradenton riders make the trip north for the same reason: there is nowhere closer. The Tampa MX nickname comes straight from the local riding community, which says something about how central the track is to the scene.

Hours have shifted seasonally, so verify the current schedule before driving up. Between the Supercross-style layout and year-round dirt prep, this is a track built for riders who ride regularly, not a one-time novelty stop.
