Profile

What riders find at Orlando MX Park.

Orlando MX Park has been turning dirt continuously since 1969, the longest continuously operating motocross track in the state of Florida and one of the oldest in the entire Southeast. Located in the Bithlo area east of downtown Orlando off East Colonial Drive (Highway 50), the property has stayed in motocross use for over five decades, surviving central Florida's relentless development cycle while neighboring tracks closed one by one. That history alone makes it a pilgrimage stop for serious moto riders, but Orlando MX Park is also one of the best-equipped active facilities in the state. Multiple tracks operate on the property, split clean by skill level and bike size: the Main Track for advanced riders, the Mini Track for younger or smaller-bike riders, the Big Track for mid-pack practice, the Pee-Wee Track for the youngest members of the family, and a separate Sand Track that adds soft-soil variety to the program. The dirt is a clay-and-sand mix that grooms beautifully, drains well after central Florida thunderstorms, and gets watered before every practice day. The race calendar reads like a who's-who of Florida motocross: rounds of the Florida Motocross Series, the Loretta Lynn's Area Qualifier (one of the qualifying tracks for the famous amateur national in Tennessee), and the Florida Gold Cup Series. The track is regularly groomed, with weekly prep cycles managed by owner Dean and the family operation. Practice schedule runs Wednesday and Thursday 10am to dark, extended hours for after-work riders, then weekends 10am to 4pm. Membership is required for most riding days; both day passes and annual passes are available, with kid riders typically discounted. Camping is available on-site with limited electric and water RV hookups (no sewer service), real concession stands, and proper restroom facilities, making it possible to run multi-day trips without leaving the property. The location is the operational advantage: from downtown Orlando, it's a 30-minute drive; from Daytona Beach, 45 minutes; from Tampa, about 90 minutes; from Jacksonville, two and a half hours. Disney and Universal are 45 minutes away, so motocross families can combine theme park days with riding days, and the Bithlo area has plenty of mid-range hotels and Airbnbs to accommodate race-weekend overflow. The track sits on a generous parcel of central Florida cattle and pasture land, which means real space for the multi-track layout, generous pit areas, and shade trees in the parking section, a small luxury you don't always get in Florida heat. Owner Dean Wilson (no relation to the pro racer) and the operations team take track preparation seriously, and the longevity of the operation is its own credential. If you ride in central Florida, you've ridden Orlando MX Park or you will. Five-plus decades of continuous operation, hosting the qualifying events that send riders to Loretta Lynn's, with a pricing structure and amenities that make it a legitimate weekly riding option, Orlando MX Park is the heart of central Florida motocross.
