Premier facility OWNED BY Cooper Webb (multi-time Supercross/MX Champion). Pro-level training, group + private coaching, elevation changes, jumps + rhythm.
What riders find
Top Gun MX in Iron Station is owned and operated by multi-time AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion Cooper Webb, opened in 2024 and immediately positioned as one of the most exciting new motocross facilities in the entire Southeast. The Cooper Webb name is the credential. Webb is a two-time AMA Supercross 450 Champion (2019, 2021), an East Coast 250 SX Champion, and one of the most consistently competitive American riders of his era. He's a North Carolina native who came up through the Carolina racing scene, and Top Gun MX is his investment in the next generation of riders coming through the same pipeline that built him.
The track is a premier intermediate motocross course built with the kind of elevation changes, varied jump combinations, rhythm sections, and whoops that you'd expect from a facility designed by someone who races at the championship level. Webb knows what makes a track interesting at the pro level and what makes it valuable for riders trying to advance, and the layout reflects that. The dirt is North Carolina Piedmont soil, natural-terrain hilly country, with the kind of organic ruts and berms that develop from real elevation rather than imported terrain.
The facility is set on a working ranch property north of Charlotte, with proper space for spectators, pit areas, and pro-level grooming. The training program is the major draw: group and private coaching is available from championship-level operators, with the kind of access to current pro-level technique that you simply can't get at most amateur tracks. Webb himself is involved in training programming. The grand opening event was scheduled for September 4 ahead of the Charlotte SMX Pro round, positioning Top Gun as a complement to the Charlotte Supercross stop on the AMA calendar.
Address: 3636 East Highway 27, Iron Station, NC 28080, north of Charlotte in Lincoln County. From downtown Charlotte the drive is about 45 minutes north; from Hickory, 35 minutes south; from Asheville, two hours east; from Raleigh, three hours west. Lincoln County has basic hotel infrastructure (Hickory and Lincolnton are the closest larger towns), and Charlotte's full hotel/restaurant scene is close enough that race weekends can stay in proper accommodations.
Track access has been growing since the 2024 opening, verify current practice schedule and event calendar at topgunmx.com or follow Top Gun MX Park on Facebook for updates. The Webb-owned operation means everyone associated with the facility takes track quality seriously: the dirt gets prepped, the watering happens, and the layouts evolve as Webb and his team find what works. For young North Carolina riders aspiring to follow the Cooper Webb path, Top Gun MX is the most aspirational destination in the state.
The 2024 opening was the most significant new motocross facility in the Southeast in years, and the combination of Webb's credentials, the pro-level track design, and the Charlotte-area location makes Top Gun an essential new entry on the U.S. moto map.
