West Craven MX

West Craven MX (WCMX) is an outdoor riding park on State Camp Road in Vanceboro, and one of the only motocross complexes in North Carolina open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, rain or shine. Daily practice runs 10am to 5pm at a flat $25 per rider with no membership required, and both dirt bikes and quads are welcome on every track and trail.

The property packs four distinct rides into one gate. The full-size main track is a natural-terrain layout cut from deep sand and rich dirt, with large tabletops, rhythm sections, and massive sweeping berms. A tighter supercross track tests jump timing and agility, and it is intentionally left rough to simulate real race-day conditions. A dedicated kids and beginner loop sits away from the main course with gentle elevation for building cornering confidence, and a 3-to-4-mile technical single-track woods loop threads through the forest for enduro and cross-country riders.

The grooming rotation is worth knowing: heavy tractors deep-till, water, and groom the main and kids tracks every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, so weekends ride prime while midweek dirt runs rougher and more raw.

Overnight stays are easy. The park keeps roughly a dozen to twenty RV sites with electric and water hookups, primitive tent camping is fully permitted, and pit parking sits centrally between the adult and kids tracks so families can watch both at once. A small trackside pro shop stocks emergency parts, tires, oil, tear-offs, goggles, and gloves, and public restrooms are on site. On the race calendar, WCMX is a recurring stop for Full Gas GP and Tri-State Cross Country Series rounds.

The Vanceboro location puts the track about 20 minutes from New Bern and within easy reach of Greenville, Kinston, and Jacksonville, making it a year-round anchor for riders across eastern North Carolina and the Crystal Coast.
