Western Reserve Motorcycle Club

Western Reserve Motorcycle Club sits just outside Salem, Ohio, in Columbiana County in the northeast corner of the state, within a reasonable tow of Youngstown, Akron and Pittsburgh. Founded on April 24, 1957, it is one of the older clubs in the area, spread across close to 100 acres, and it offers more disciplines on one property than almost any single track around.

The grounds pack in a lot: an outdoor motocross track, a separate pee-wee motocross track for 50s and trail bikes, a quarter-mile dirt flat track with lights and bleacher seating, and hare scramble woods courses that change through the year. Race scoring uses RFID transponder tags backed by manual scoring, and a concession building opens for every event with pizza, hot dogs, chili, coffee, soft drinks and beer; the sign-up and trophy counter is inside it. The clubhouse itself, with its kitchen, bar, meeting room and picnic pavilion, is members only except when a winter race signs up indoors.

This is a club, not a practice park. The public rides on race weekends: in 2026 the VIVA Driven MX Series brought motocross rounds on May 17 and June 28, each with a Saturday practice day (gates 6 AM, two sessions from 8, $15 gate) and a Sunday of racing from 9:30; the club's own Sideways Series ran flat track on June 20 with gates at 2 PM, practice at 4 and racing at 6, $30 for a first class and a $50 money class paying 100 percent; and CRA-sanctioned hare scrambles ran June 7, October 4 (the 2-man, 4-hour team race with a 2-kids, 2-hour youth race, $30 a rider or $60 a team) and close the year on November 8, gates and sign-up at 7 AM with a $15 gate.

House rules are strict and posted: no pit riding, first gear to and from the track, no one on the flat track outside a flat track practice and no knobbies on it, riders under 18 with a parent present and a signed release, helmets to sign-up for transponder tags, and some weekends run wristbands for overnight stays and Sunday admission. Membership is about 50 active riders plus life members: an application, three member sponsors, 90 days probation and a vote, age 21 and up with your own motorcycle.
