Western Reserve Motorcycle Club

Western Reserve Motorcycle Club sits just outside Salem, Ohio, in Columbiana County in the northeast corner of the state, within a reasonable tow of Youngstown, Akron, and the Pittsburgh region. Founded on April 24, 1957, it is one of the older clubs in the area, spread across close to 100 acres, and it offers more disciplines on one property than almost any single track around.

The grounds pack in a lot. There is an outdoor motocross track, a separate pee-wee motocross track for 50s and trail bikes, a quarter-mile dirt flat track with lights and bleacher seating, and various harescramble woods courses. That means a rider could run MX, race the flat track under the lights, and hit the woods all at the same club. Race scoring is handled with an RFID electronic system, and there is a concession building during events serving the usual pizza, hot dogs, and chili, plus a members-only clubhouse.

As a non-profit club with around 50 active members, Western Reserve runs on its membership: joining means an application, three current members co-signing, a probationary period, and a member vote, and you have to be 21 and own a motorcycle.
