Sandusky Valley Riders

Sandusky Valley Riders, SVR, is a member-operated motocross and off-road club in Sycamore, Ohio, west of Tiffin in Wyandot County. The club was established in 1928 and took up motocross in 1975, and today it has more than 280 members of every skill level on roughly 40 acres with river frontage and a creek through the middle of the property. The 1.3-mile motocross track is mostly natural terrain with elevation changes, man-made doubles, tabletops and some rhythm sections, built so riders of every level can enjoy it; the club's own line is "supercross we are not." A peewee track handles the younger riders who are not ready for the big track, a turn track and miles of trails round out the grounds, and the clubhouse is where sign-up and the twice-monthly meetings happen.

The track is open to members all year except during scheduled workday hours and race weeks, when it closes on the Tuesday evening before the weekend for prep. Non-members are not permitted to ride at any other time, so the way in for the public is a race weekend: Friday gates run 5 to 10:30 PM ($20), Saturday gates 7 AM to 10:30 PM ($15) with open practice from 10 to 4 at $30 per class and beginners-only peewee track races at noon, and Sunday gates open at 7 AM ($10) with practice at 9 and AMA District 12 racing right after at $30 per class, with free overnight parking and food vendors both days. Kids 6 and under are free at the gate. Racers need AMA and D12 cards and, under the 2026 AMA rule, front and rear chest protection; minors must be registered by a parent or carry the notarized form. The club does not carry insurance for riders or spectators, so everyone rides at their own risk.

Membership is a family membership covering a spouse and children 18 and under: $600 the first year, including a refundable $200 initiation fee earned back by working two motocross events, then $400 a year, and members who rack up 200 club points from workdays, meetings and event shifts ride the next year free. Quads, side-by-sides and three-wheelers stay on the trails and turn track, never the motocross track, and camper and trailer storage on the property is limited to a week. Throttle Society of Fremont is the title sponsor and gives members dealer-cost pricing. Getting there: from the Ohio Turnpike take exit 91 at Fremont, State Route 53 south to State Route 224 east, then County Road 19 south for seven miles; from the south take US 23 to State Route 53 north, State Route 103 east, County Road 35 to County Road 37 and go 3.5 miles.
