Sunfair 42 MX Park

Sunfair 42 MX Park is a motocross and supercross training complex on Sunfair Road in Joshua Tree, California, out in the high desert east of Yucca Valley near the Sunfair dry lake. It has grown fast into one of Southern California's go-to desert riding spots, and it is the home and filming location of The Ultimate Rider, the motocross reality series built with SLR Honda that puts amateur riders in a fight for a factory-backed ride.

Seven tracks share the property. The main track is a full-size outdoor motocross layout, with a vet track next door for riders who want flow over flight. A supercross track, a sand track, and a turn track round out the training menu, opened on posted ride days or by private rental. Kids get their own pitter track for 50cc and electric bikes, and brand-new riders start on the haybale track. Weekend open practice runs on posted dates with gates at 7:30 AM and riding from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, so check the calendar before you load the truck.

Racing here means the Extended Moto Race Series, a mini grand prix that strings the main track, vet track, sand track, and an off-road section into one course for a single 35-minute moto per class (25 minutes for 50s and beginners). Rounds run October through April with timed start slots, Moto Tally transponder scoring, and trophies every round. The Swap Moto Race Series also stops here. Race weekends bring dry camping plus a limited number of 50 amp and full-hookup RV spots on concrete pads.

Every rider signs a waiver at the gate, full gear is required on the track, and the pits are strict: 5 mph, helmets on, no roosting, wheelies, or burnouts. Pre-enter races online to save $10 a class.
