Oatfield Raceway / AMP-GFI Motocross

Oatfield Raceway in Snelling is the home of GFI Racing, one of the longest-running amateur motocross series in Northern California. The track is built on the same adobe clay and silt that made Argyll famous, and race-day prep pulls GFI series riders from across the state.

The adobe clay and silt is the defining surface. It holds racing lines through long sessions and takes the tacky cornering prep that race programs need. Most California tracks ride on sand or loam blends; the adobe base at Oatfield is what race directors prep specifically for series weekends.

Know the schedule before you go: this is a series-first operation. Most days on the calendar are race prep and series events, not open practice for casual drop-in riding. AMP/GFI Motocross runs the facility on a calendar built around the regional racing schedule.

Oatfield sits in Merced County in the Sierra foothills, reachable from Highway 99 and the J-59 corridor. Modesto riders make the trip east, about an hour out. Fresno, Sacramento, and Bay Area riders drive in for series weekends specifically, and for local Merced County riders this is the closest GFI series host venue.
