What riders find
Milestone Ranch MX Park in Riverside, California was one of Southern California's flagship motocross facilities during its run, but the gates closed permanently in December 2019. The property sat in a flood zone that would have required roughly 15 feet of elevation work to keep operating, and the math never came together. For two decades before that, Milestone was a fixture of the SoCal motocross calendar and one of the most heavily ridden tracks in the Inland Empire.
At its peak, Milestone ran seven distinct tracks. The Main Track was a Pro-style layout used for open practice and amateur racing. A Vet Track gave older riders cleaner lines and softer landings. A Beginner Track let new riders learn without sharing space with faster groups. A Supercross track delivered the rhythm-section practice that drove the West Coast pro pipeline. A PeeWee Track served the 50cc and 65cc kid-bike crowd, a Flat Track gave a different discipline its own dirt, and an Amateur SX track filled in between. That combination, all on one property, all groomed regularly, made Milestone a one-stop destination for any family with multiple riders at different stages.
The track operated under a long-term lease, and the flood-zone designation meant any major capital improvement would have triggered environmental review and elevation requirements the operators could not justify. Permitting realities, not riding interest, ended the run. The closure landed hard on SoCal motocross. For thousands of riders in Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, and Los Angeles counties, Milestone had been the weeknight and Saturday-morning track of record.
For riders looking for the closest active alternatives today, three tracks fill most of the gap. Perris Raceway, about 15 minutes south, has been operating continuously since 1954 and runs Tuesday-through-Thursday night practice plus weekend sessions. Glen Helen Raceway, about 25 minutes north in San Bernardino, hosts open practice on its multiple national-grade tracks and is the only SoCal venue still on the AMA Pro Motocross calendar. Cahuilla Creek MX, about an hour southeast in Anza, offers high-country dirt and cooler temperatures during the summer months when Inland Empire heat shuts everything else down.
The Milestone property remains a flood-prone parcel that has not been redeveloped for motocross. For anyone Googling "Milestone Ranch MX Park" or "motocross tracks in Riverside" expecting to find an active facility, this listing is the canonical record: Milestone is closed, the property is gone for motocross, and the Inland Empire scene has shifted to Perris and Glen Helen for daily practice.
