Family-owned AMA-sanctioned facility in District 6 + MDRA. Full-size + peewee tracks. Playground for the kids and computerized sign-in.
What riders find
Doublin Gap MX in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania is a family-owned, AMA-sanctioned motocross track running District 6 and MDRA events year-round. That pairing is the identity: real championship race programming from a family operation that keeps the atmosphere welcoming.
The property runs a full-size main track plus a dedicated peewee track for younger riders. The separation lets mixed-skill family groups ride at the same time without putting kids in main-track traffic, which is exactly what a family riding day needs.
There is also a playground, a small thing that says a lot. Kids can burn energy between motos, which turns the track into a workable full-day family destination instead of a quick session stop. Computerized sign-in keeps race days organized, the kind of detail that matters when you are running a full AMA District 6 and MDRA calendar.
The year-round District 6 and MDRA event density puts Doublin Gap in the upper tier of Pennsylvania race calendars. Riders chasing District 6 or MDRA points get a sanctioned home venue with predictable race-day operations instead of traveling for every round.
Doublin Gap sits in Cumberland County in central PA, with easy access from Harrisburg or Carlisle off I-81. Riders in Shippensburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Camp Hill along the I-81 and I-76 corridors are close, Lancaster and south-central PA riders make the trip west, and Pittsburgh riders run east on the Turnpike for the series racing. Schedule at doublingap.com.
Family-owned since 1995, when Rod and Jeff Yentzer, both lifelong motocross racers, built the place, Doublin Gap runs three tracks including a dedicated 50cc beginner loop, plus a small BMX track and a playground for the kids. The spectator experience is a point of pride: raised viewing towers give a bird's-eye view of the whole layout, an on-site radio station broadcasts announcements on 91.1 FM to the pits, and race days even include a chapel service. Racing is scored electronically with FastLaps MX transponders (live lap times on your phone or at mdramxracing.com), and four sign-in kiosks keep morning registration moving. The resume is deep: Loretta Lynn's Qualifiers and Regionals, MDRA, MAMA, PAMX, and the District 6 Henrietta Classic Series have all run here. House rules are firm and family-minded: cash only, no pit bikes, no fireworks, campfires in raised containers only, dogs leashed, and all riders under 18 need the AMA minor release signed by both parents. Dry camping is free with paid 50-amp RV sites available, and one navigation tip matters: GPS to Newburg 17240 and do not turn onto Null Lane, it does not connect to the entrance.
