Breezewood Proving Grounds

Breezewood Proving Grounds, BPG to the regulars, is a motocross park on Robinsonville Road in Clearville, Pennsylvania, in Bedford County just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Breezewood exit near the Maryland line. Dan Harris opened it in March 2002, a neighbor lawsuit shut it down that November, and it reopened in July 2005. Twenty years of improvements since then have turned a set of tracks into a weekend destination, and the sign at the gate makes the pitch: there is no better dirt than Dan's.

Three tracks cover the skill range. The Advanced track is the big one, with big air jumps, tabletops, doubles, triples, step-ups, high-banked berms, rollers before the uphill, a water jump and a steel ramp jump. The Intermediate track carries plenty of tabletops and jumps and hosts the Outlaw Series races. The Kids track, the PeeWee track, is every feature of the intermediate scaled down for small riders, kept separate from the big tracks, with lights, a starting gate and an announcing tower for pit bike and kids racing. Bikes, quads and even trikes ride the two big tracks. The dirt is Dan's own recipe of sand, mulch and a few secret ingredients, and all three tracks are groomed and watered all day, usually three times a day, with layouts that change often.

BPG went members only in 2026. Every rider buys a $50 yearly membership at the park, then a day pass, $50 for big bikes or $35 for 70cc and under, with two-day and three-day passes and a $700 season pass sold December through January. Spectators are $10 and sign in with a member, and it is cash only, no checks or cards. Gates open at 8 AM Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the park runs until dark, never after, closed Monday through Thursday and from December 1 to March 1. A helmet is required, full gear is strongly recommended, and everyone signs a waiver at the booth. Read the accident policy before you ride: when a yellow light comes on, riding on that track stops until everyone without gear is off it, and breaking that rule gets you sent home with no refund.

Racing is the Outlaw Motocross Racing Series, seven Saturdays from April through Labor Day weekend that draw around 300 racers each. Race days run open riding from 8 AM to 4 PM, then a one-moto race program from 4 PM until dark, $25 a class with no cards or memberships required, and bike and quad classes from 50cc kids through A riders, women, vet, senior and 50-plus. Kids track racing runs under the lights for $10 a class, just for fun.

The amenities are what make people stay the weekend. Tent camping is $10 a night, dry RV parking $20 and full hookups with electric, water and a dump station $60, with six cabins from $300 to $500 a weekend. There is a hot-water shower house and real bathrooms with indoor plumbing around the park, a dining hall serving breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays with an outdoor patio over the track, a two-bay commercial bike wash, a parts barn and, new for 2026, a tool shed stocked for tire changes and trailside fixes. Off the bike there is a swimming pond with a beach, water slides, a high dive and a diving board, a stage for live music, a freestyle ramp, a playground, volleyball, basketball and horseshoe pits. The whole park rents privately for $2,000 a day for up to 25 riders. Pittsburgh is about two hours west, Baltimore two hours east and Washington two and a half hours southeast.
