Frequently Asked
New York motocross questions.
What's motocross like in New York? +
Unadilla in New Berlin is one of the great American motocross tracks. The Lucas Oil National there in early August is rolling-hills country at its best, and the layout has a flow that rewards riders who can read terrain. Broome-Tioga Sports Center hosts a lot of the regional racing. ADK MX up in the Adirondacks, Boondocks Moto, plus a deep upstate track list and a denser Long Island scene than most outsiders realize. Soil is mostly loamy in the Mohawk and Hudson valleys, sandier near the coast, rockier in the southern tier. Season runs late April through October. NYMX series and OBL (Old Bridge League) cover bulk of the regional points. The Vermont and Pennsylvania scenes bleed in at the edges. Long-Island-to-upstate drives are real; some New York riders never see each other unless it's at a Broome-Tioga or Unadilla weekend, even though they're racing the same series. Pack tear-offs for spring weekends; rain weekends here ride differently than anywhere else.
