Profile

What riders find here.

Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Morrison, Colorado is the premier motocross facility in the Mountain West, home of the Thunder Valley National, one of the most distinctive rounds on the AMA Pro Motocross Championship calendar every June. Set in the foothills southwest of Denver against a backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, Thunder Valley sits at over a mile of elevation, which fundamentally changes how riders, bikes, and races behave. Bikes make less power at altitude, riders run out of oxygen faster, and the late-spring/early-summer Colorado weather can deliver everything from 95-degree heat to a freak hail storm in a single moto. The track itself is a fast, flowing layout with significant elevation changes, hard-packed dirt that develops big square-edged ruts, and the kind of fast straights that put a premium on horsepower a 450 just doesn't have at 5,500+ feet. The Thunder Valley National regularly draws nearly 30,000 fans, making it one of the better-attended Pro Nationals on the calendar, and the spectator experience is among the best in the sport: easy parking, real food vendors, a natural amphitheater feel from the rolling terrain, and the Denver skyline visible in the distance. Outside the National weekend, the track is open year-round for local riders, providing the closest serious motocross training facility for racers throughout Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, western Nebraska, and western Kansas. The combination of mountain views, altitude training value, and Pro National pedigree makes Thunder Valley a genuinely bucket-list track for any serious American motocross rider. Easy access from I-70 and Denver International Airport (45 minutes), making it one of the more travel-friendly Pro Nationals to fly into from anywhere in the country. If you're going to ride one Mountain Time Zone Pro National venue, this is it.
