HAMX (High Altitude MX)

HAMX, short for High Altitude MX, is a members-only motocross track on Highway 125 just north of Granby, Colorado, in Grand County at nearly 8,000 feet. It is a nonprofit run by a volunteer board under the High Altitude Sports Riders banner, sponsored by REIC and by Power World, the Granby powersports dealer a few minutes down the road, and the sponsor's equipment is what rebuilt the track in 2026.

The property has the motocross track itself, a hard enduro section and singletrack, and the 2026 season saw the crew reworking the track, building out the enduro section and finally hauling water tanks to the top of the hill so the track can be watered. The board says there is still a lot of work to do, but the direction is right, and the track stayed rideable through a dry late summer.

You need a membership to ride, and the whole place runs on the honor system: sign in and drop your payment in the cash box in the shed, and every dollar goes back into the track. A 2026 seasonal membership is $200 for an individual, $300 for a parent and child or $400 for a family, and from August 1 memberships sell at half the annual rate. Day use is $15 per rider, but only when an HAMX member is physically at the track, so non-members should message the HAMX Facebook page ahead of time about ride days. For Granby, Fraser, Winter Park, Grand Lake and Kremmling riders, HAMX is the only motocross track in Grand County, and Front Range riders reach it in about two hours over Berthoud Pass via US 40. The season runs from spring melt-out until the snow returns.
