Richwood's MX

Richwood's MX, known over the years as ROMP MX, Richwoods Off-Road Moto Park, and Action Motocross, is an all-terrain riding spot tucked into a heavily wooded pocket of Washington County, Missouri, about an hour southwest of St. Louis. The formula is about as rider-friendly as it gets: open every single day of the year from sunrise to sunset, $20 cash per rider, spectators free, and dirt bikes, quads, and four-wheelers all welcome. The main motocross track rolls through real elevation with sweeping berms, technical ruts, and tabletops from small to large, shaped for intermediate riders but with safe lanes for beginners, while a dedicated TT scramble loop gives flat-track fans somewhere to work on sliding and throttle control. The dirt runs loose topsoil over a rugged hard-packed base that gets dry and dusty in high summer and muddy fast after Missouri rain, so a quick call before hauling is the local custom. A big tree-ringed perimeter clearing handles parking and primitive overnight camping, and come late autumn the Bear Cove neighborhood turns colorful, with a haunted house and local mud runs setting up nearby. Gear rules are firm: helmet, long pants, long sleeves, and boots for every rider on the track.
