The 40 MX Ranch

The 40 MX Ranch is an intermediate motocross training facility and practice track on 312th Street outside Bloomfield, in Davis County in southeast Iowa, a few miles north of the Missouri line and about an hour and a half southeast of Des Moines. It bills itself as an intermediate track, the kind of place to move up from trail riding and beginner loops and start working on real motocross speed and jumps without the traffic of a race weekend.

There are no set hours. The track opens for open practice days that the crew announces on The 40 MX Ranch Facebook page a few days out, once the weather and the dirt line up; a recent one opened on a Sunday at 11 AM, and a wet week in late September 2026 pushed the next attempt to October 4. Rain and standing water cancel, so check the page before you load up, and expect to pay a ride fee at the gate on the day. The page is new and small, so the schedule, pricing and rules will fill in as the track posts them.
