Pine Ridge Raceway

Pine Ridge Raceway in Athelstane, Wisconsin has been family-owned by the La Count family since 1999. Two-plus decades of continuous family ownership in American motocross is its own kind of operating commitment, and the La Count family's stewardship has built Pine Ridge into the Northwoods regional anchor.

The one-mile sandy motocross track sits in the Wisconsin Northwoods, with natural elevation changes and sections winding through forest. The forest setting is the property's defining feature. Most regional Wisconsin tracks are built on cleared parcels with minimal tree cover. Pine Ridge runs through actual woods, which produces shade, shelter, and the kind of scenic riding experience that flat-cleared tracks cannot deliver.

The sandy soil holds up across the active season with the kind of grippy characteristics that Wisconsin sand develops through proper maintenance. The natural elevation changes built into the layout come from the actual hill country grade rather than bulldozed berms.

An on-site pro shop carries fuel, clothing, gear, and parts. The retail operation distinguishes serious facilities from properties that force riders to leave for parts and gear needs. Broken equipment does not necessarily end the trip when the property runs its own shop.

Camping is permitted on practice dates. The structure makes Pine Ridge a real weekend destination rather than a daily practice stop.

The Athelstane location is in Marinette County, northeastern Wisconsin near the Michigan Upper Peninsula border. Green Bay is about 90 minutes south, the U.P. border is 30 minutes north, and the position pulls riders from both Wisconsin and the U.P. The Northwoods setting and family-owned operating culture combine into a regional facility that has held its identity across multiple operating cycles.

Race weekends carry AMA weight here too. Pine Ridge is one of four venues in the Superior MX Series, the AMA-sanctioned championship connecting the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin, and the track hosts the series championship finale each September. Day to day, the operation is event-driven rather than daily-hours: riding happens on select scheduled weekends, typically 10 to 6, with a cash-only gate, a one-time $35 club card for first-time riders, and $30 open practice after that. Everyone who enters the property signs a waiver, full gear with a chest protector is required on track, and designated open practices welcome ATVs and quads alongside bikes. The grounds add a 4.5 mile scramble course and a pee-wee track to the main layout, with an underground irrigation system keeping dust down, plus concessions and primitive camping on event weekends.
