Profile

What riders find at Ocotillo Raceway.

Ocotillo Raceway in Eloy, Arizona is one of Arizona's oldest active motocross tracks, open since the mid-1990s, with a 1-mile main track on a sand and dirt mix surface and an iconic 150-foot tabletop that has been a riders' rite of passage for decades. The combination of operating longevity and the signature 150-foot obstacle puts Ocotillo in a distinct position in the Arizona motocross scene. The 1-mile main track is the property's primary outdoor MX layout. The sand and dirt mix surface gives the track variety through a session, with sand sections developing the kind of ruts that test sand technique and dirt sections firming up through afternoon use. The mid-1990s operating start means Ocotillo has been turning the same dirt for nearly three decades, and the surface has been refined across that period through consistent maintenance. The 150-foot tabletop is the property's signature obstacle. A 150-foot jump is national-grade obstacle territory and is the kind of feature that gets the entire pit area watching when a rider sends it. The tabletop has been the property's marquee challenge for decades, and the riders who clear it consistently are among the more accomplished amateurs in the Arizona motocross community. A pee-wee track sits separately for 50cc and 65cc riders. The two-track structure lets households with multiple riders at different skill levels practice the same property at the same time. The mid-1990s opening date puts Ocotillo among the longer-running Arizona motocross facilities, and the operating continuity across nearly three decades reflects the property's role as a regional anchor in the broader Arizona desert motorsports scene. The Eloy location is in Pinal County, central Arizona, midway between Phoenix and Tucson. Phoenix is about an hour northwest on Interstate 10, Tucson is roughly an hour southeast, and the Phoenix-Tucson I-10 corridor pulls riders from both metros for weekend trips to the property. For Arizona motocross riders splitting time between the Phoenix and Tucson markets, having a long-running facility with a 150-foot signature obstacle on the I-10 corridor is genuinely useful. The mid-position between the two metros, the three-decade-plus operating history, and the iconic tabletop combine into a regional Arizona property that has held its position across multiple operating cycles.
