Thunder Valley Motocross

Thunder Valley Motocross in Livingston, Tennessee was a classic Upper Cumberland amateur racing facility that has permanently closed. In its running years it was one of the Mid-East region's real hubs: a fully AMA sanctioned natural terrain track with doubles, triples, tabletops, whoops, and genuine uphill and downhill elevation, groomed and watered through multi-day weekends. Race weekends followed a strict rhythm, Friday evening gates for rider arrival, organized class-by-class practice Saturday morning, and Sunday race day that opened with an early church service before warm-up and gate drops. The calendar carried serious weight for an amateur track: it served as an official AMA Mid-East Area Qualifier on the road to Loretta Lynn's, and hosted rounds of the THOR Mega Series, the Suzuki BIG Classic Series, and the Yamaha SAS Series. Camping ran $20 with day admission from $10 to $30 and AMA membership required to race. (Not to be confused with Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Colorado, the Pro Motocross National venue.) Mid-East amateurs looking for the same series today will find the Mega Series calendar anchored at Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville and its sister venues.
