Muddy Waters MX

Muddy Waters MX, also known as Muddy Waters Motorsports Park, is a motocross track on Freidens Road outside Port Byron, Illinois, on the river bluffs about 20 minutes upstream of the Quad Cities. Two tracks share the property: the big track, where everything from 50cc big-track classes to the A riders race, and a kids track with its own course for the 50cc and 65cc beginners. The motto on the fliers is good times on a dirty track, and 22,000 Facebook followers with a 98 percent recommendation say the crew delivers it.

This is a race-weekend and posted-practice track rather than a daily practice facility. Race weekends open the gates Friday from 4 to 9 PM with camping Friday and Saturday night, then Saturday gates open at 7 AM, riders meeting at 9:15, practice at 9:30 and racing right after. Race entry is $40 per class with AMA membership required, and spectators pay $20 Friday or $15 Saturday with kids under 5 free. Everything registers through Trackside Pre-Reg, though some events like the Grand Prix are day-of sign-up only. A helmet is mandatory on both tracks.

The 2026 fall calendar is busy: the Muddy Waters MX Grand Prix on October 3, a makeup for the rained-out September 6 date, then a Friday practice on October 30 leading into the 3rd Annual WMX Showdown for women and girls on October 31 and the 2 Smokin Showdown on November 1. Tri-City Motorcycle Club and WFO Promotions run MX and hare scrambles within 10 miles, so a GP Saturday here pairs with a race Sunday nearby.
