Lazy River MX

Lazy River MX in Dalton, Georgia is a race-only motocross track in the northwest corner of the state, a few minutes off Interstate 75. It does not open for public or recreational practice. It opens for sanctioned race weekends, mostly Victory Sports rounds of the THOR United States Mega Series, the Yamaha BIG Classic MX Series, the Parts Unlimited Ultra Series and the Georgia Championship Series, and the only riding you will get is the organized practice on the Saturday of a race weekend. The dirt is clay, and the class card runs from 51cc four-year-olds through 60+ vets with full D, C, B and A/Pro ladders in the 250 and 450 classes.

A race weekend follows a set rhythm. Friday gates open at 4 PM for camping, pit vehicles shut down at 7:30, noise stops at 10 and the gates lock at 11. Saturday gates open at 6 AM, practice sign-up is at 8 and three rounds of practice run 9 to 3 weather permitting, often with an evening program such as an FCA devotional and contests in the pits. Sunday gates open at 6 AM with sign-up at 6:45, a worship service at 7, practice at 8 sharp and racing right after. Breakfast and lunch are served from 7 AM through the end of race day.

Admission is $35 adult and $20 child on Friday, $30 and $20 Saturday and $20 and $10 Sunday. Saturday practice is $35 and race entry is $35 per amateur class, $45 for pros and $60 for the Sunday Pro-Am, all pre-entry prices with post entries $5 more; pre-register on Trackside. Pit vehicle stickers are $30 and the pit vehicle rules are posted on the website and social media. AMA membership is required (the track's promoter code is LARIMO), every rider must wear chest and back protection under or over the jersey as of 2026, and D-class riders are advanced after three wins or four second-place finishes. Overnight RV and primitive camping is in the grassy parking for competing families.

Getting there: take I-75 to exit 333, go east on Walnut Avenue past Walnut Square Mall to Airport Road, turn right, then right again onto Brown Bridge Road, which dead-ends at the track at 4779 Brown Bridge Road SE. The Fairfield Inn and Best Western in Dalton offer a Lazy River rate on race weekends, and the La Quinta, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Travelodge and Wingate are nearby.
