What riders find
Horn Rapids Motorsports Complex (HRMC) in Richland, Washington is the Tri-Cities home track: more than 300 acres of sandy loam desert in the Horn Rapids area of West Richland with five tracks and a trail system, open for practice from January through December. It is the kind of place where a family with a 65, a quad and a side-by-side can all ride the same day without fighting for the same dirt.
The Horn is the main national-level motocross track and the stage for the Black Widow Championship series, the AMA Mini Warrior MX Youth Championship and the AMA Loretta Lynn area qualifier. Area 51 is a GP-style track riders can drop onto during main-track practice rotations, Chaos SX is the supercross-style track that lights up for Desert Thunder night racing, Rush is a dedicated ATV and UTV track, and a separate pee wee track keeps beginners and the smallest riders in their own space. Around it all are desert trails open to everything from dirt bikes to Jeeps and heavy 4x4s. The whole property is sandy loam, so it holds a line and drains fast.
Practice is sold by pass: $45 for the Main MX pass that covers every track and the trails, $40 for riders under 18, $30 for the Sand and SX pass (Area 51, Rush, Chaos SX and trails), $25 for the pee wee pass, $50 for UTVs and ATVs, and $60 for a Fast Pass if you are hauling bikes, quads and a UTV. Spectators and trail-only riders pay $10. Regular practice runs Friday 9:30 to 4 and Saturday and Sunday 9 to 4, with the real-time schedule on hornrapidsmx.com and a call-before-you-haul hotline at 509-496-2958. Washington ORV tabs are required, everyone signs a waiver, and minors need a parent or a notarized release on file.
Camping is $40 a night with water and electric or $30 dry, with heated showers, restrooms, a bike-wash rack, an after-hours camp area, weekly and monthly RV storage, VP race fuel and HRMC gear on site. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 7 AM and pit vehicles need a pass. Yearly passes run from $1,300 for unlimited practice to a $2,300 family VIP package.
Race weekends run the Black Widow spring and fall series with gas and electric classes from kids to adults, Desert Thunder night racing in September, the Mini Warrior youth championship in October with its costume contest and warrior relays, and promoter rounds for Pac West, NORCS, Quadcross Northwest, WVMX and EWDRA. All AMA-sanctioned events require an AMA membership, online sign-up runs through Trackside, and the track radio is 107.1 FM.
