Buckskin Hills Motocross

Buckskin Hills Motocross is a fast, natural-terrain dirt track just north of Vernal, Utah, anchoring the motocross side of the big Buckskin Hills Recreation Complex out in the Uintah Basin. Run jointly by Uintah County and the Buckskin Hills Motocross Club, it is a true two-wheel track: dirt bikes only, no quads or side-by-sides on the MX course, so the racing line stays clean and the rhythm stays high.

The layout is carved straight out of the local red dirt and clay, a flowing counter-clockwise course built around big sweeping berms and a progressive set of tabletops and jumps that reward momentum. The club works the dirt constantly, so it rides like a track someone actually cares about, and because conditions and practice hours can shift with the maintenance schedule, it is worth checking the club's channels before you load up.

This is a recurring host for the High Plains Motocross Association (HPMA) championship series, anchoring double-header rounds on the multi-state tour, and the surrounding hillsides are rugged enough that the facility expands the layout to host regional WORCS off-road endurance events too. The track runs seasonally from April through October, and helmets and a signed waiver are required before you start your engine.

The camping is the sleeper feature. The North Campground sits right next to the motocross layout with premium full-service RV hookups (water, power, and sewer) plus vault restrooms and even EV charging stations, all for around $25 a night, which is rare for a dirt track this far out. Open ride days typically run $20 to $30 per rider.
