MX at the DeX

MX at the DeX is South Dakota's winter indoor motocross series, raced inside the Dakota Events CompleX, the big arena on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron. 713 Racing Promotions builds a fresh track in the dirt-floored arena each December and runs it through early March, so riders from a six-state region get real gate drops in a 68 degree building while everything outdoors is frozen. Co-founder Tom Glanzer's pitch is that there is nothing like the building within 600 miles, and the series motto is Faith, Family, Finish Lines.

The series launched in December 2024, grew to six race days and ten practice sessions in its second winter, and became the first venue to run the Adrenaline.mx scoring and registration platform. The 2026-27 schedule, Season 3, opens with Round 1 on December 19, 2026, followed by the Junior Showdown Triple Crown for youth riders on January 2 and 3, 2027, then Round 2 on January 16, Round 3 on February 13 and Round 4 on March 6. Race days run from around 8 AM until 9 PM with roughly 30 classes, from 50cc and Shift Shaft pee wees through 65s, 85s, Supermini, women, 250 and Open B, C and Pro, two-stroke open, vet 30, 40 and 50 plus, beginner classes, a pit bike race at some rounds and electric mini classes at the Showdown. Every athlete needs a transponder. Last season's fees were $55 for amateur and pro classes, $50 for pee wees, a free rider pit pass with a paid entry, $15 for a general pit pass and $25 for a transponder.

Between rounds the promoter schedules open practice sessions on the arena track, $50 per rider for all classes, typically Sunday afternoons with the odd weeknight, and a moto clinic during the season.
