Profile · Nevada

Nevada Motocross.

Desert state, year-round riding for those who plan around the heat, and a scene that pivots between the Reno end and the Las Vegas end with not much in between. Reno Fernley Raceway is the northern Nevada anchor, Boulder City MX outside Vegas handles the southern tier, Pahrump Valley Speedway runs the intermediate area, Sand Mountain Recreation Area is more sand-dune playground than motocross. Soil is decomposed granite, hardpack, occasionally rocky enough to chew tires fast. Goggle tear-offs and a clean air filter spare are non-optional. Vegas locals ride mornings six months out of the year and switch to lit night sessions when summer pegs over 105. Reno's higher elevation means earlier seasons but harder winters; tracks shut down December through February most years. AMA District 36 reaches into northern Nevada from California; District 37 covers southern Nevada from southern California. Two scenes, one state, very different vibes.
