~15-min drive past Lemmon Dr pavement end (Reno Stead area). Used by Battleborn + Nevada Oldtimer's MX.
What riders find
Stead MX is a desert motocross track in the Stead area of north Reno, Nevada, about a 15-minute drive past where the Lemmon Drive pavement ends. That end-of-pavement location tells you what to expect: genuine high-desert riding, not a manicured commercial track. The dust, dry climate, and natural elevation are exactly what northern Nevada off-road riding is about.
The track serves two clubs, the Battleborn MX club and the Nevada Oldtimer's Motocross club, for events and practice. Battleborn brings the contemporary regional race program, and the Oldtimer's side keeps the vintage and veteran rider community on the calendar. Two clubs sharing the same infrastructure is a big part of why the track stays viable.
Northern Nevada is short on dedicated motocross tracks, and Stead MX fills a real gap for the Reno side of the region without the longer drives to Carson Valley or the desert riding areas further south.
For riders in Washoe County and the Reno-Tahoe area, this is the close option. Reno, Sparks, Stead, Sun Valley, and Lemmon Valley are all minutes away along US-395 and I-80. Carson City and Carson Valley riders come north for the Battleborn events, Lake Tahoe riders run east, and Truckee and eastern Sierra California riders cross the state line for the desert riding.
First time out, use the end of the Lemmon Drive pavement as your landmark for finding the access road.
