LSF Motocross Park

LSF Motocross Park is a four-track motocross facility on Arbor Road in Lincoln, Nebraska, about 15 minutes southeast of downtown and right off I-80, on the Lincoln Sports Foundation campus. The 50-acre property bills itself as one of the Midwest's premier motocross destinations, and the layout backs that up: a national-level main track, a vintage track, an oval track and a mini and pit bike track, so everyone from a first-time pee-wee to an Open Pro has somewhere to ride.

The national track is the headliner. It runs 3.2 miles across 40 acres of natural rolling hills with up to 60 feet of elevation change, and Pro lap times land around two to three minutes. Starts come off a full-width, 30-bike steel gate into a sweeping left berm. Out on the course you get two big booters on the descent, a back-section triple of roughly 65 feet with a step-down landing, four banked berms built from hard-packed clay, and a set of non-jumpable 3-foot rhythm whoops that riders call the toughest section on the property.

Practice runs weekly from March through October, weather permitting, with dates posted on the LSF Motocross Park Facebook page. A prepped main track day is $35, and the non-prepped main track or the mini track alone is $20. From May through September the park is home to Saturday night NCMA (Nebraska Cornhusker Motocross Association) racing with a full points series and 150% pro payback: gates open at 2 PM, practice is at 4 and racing starts at 6. Saturday Mini Track Motos run earlier, with gates at 8 AM, practice at 1 PM and racing at 2. Race entry is $30 per class ($35 Open Pro), STACYC is free, the gate is $10 per person, and every racer needs an NCMA membership ($25 a year or a $5 day pass at the track). Registration is at the gate on race day.

Race nights are a scene. There is a full beer garden with live music on select events, food vendors most nights, and coolers are welcome in the pits and spectator areas. The calendar also packs in the Filthy Roosters Backyard Boogie multi-day festival, Labor Day Roostfest, Great Plains Vintage races, the Mini Moto Series, the Freedom Moto Classic and a Halloween Shootout, with extras like whip contests, hooligan races, poker runs and burnout contests. Camping is $10 a night for tents or vehicles, and RV sites with electric are $50 a night; call (402) 525-1065 to reserve for race weekends. An on-site pro shop handles gear, parts and trackside support on race weekends. Weather cancellations post on social media, prepaid entries carry over, and the track does not race in active lightning.
