Kimball County Motocross

Kimball County Motocross, KCMX to everyone who rides it, is a privately owned motocross track on Road 16S about ten miles south of Kimball, Nebraska, just inside the state line from Colorado in the far southwest corner of the Panhandle. The owners built it to give the region's motocross community another track to enjoy, and it has grown fast: a starting gate went in for 2026, the track hosted its own first race weekend that May hosted a three-day 9 to 5ers MX Coaching school in August and drew a round of the Rocky Mountain Vintage Motocross Club series in September.

There are two tracks. The pro track is the main layout, and the crew tills, preps and waters it for every practice and race day, which is the thing riders keep talking about. A separate kid track keeps the little ones and first-timers away from big-bike traffic.

KCMX is a weekend track, not a daily one. It opens on the weekends the weather allows, and when the forecast is split the owners pick the better day and post it, along with the hours, on the KCMX Facebook and Instagram pages. Prepped practice is $30 per rider, camping is available on practice and race weekends, and questions go by email or a message to the page.

For riders in Kimball, Sidney, Scottsbluff and Cheyenne, and for the northern Colorado crowd in Sterling, Fort Collins and Greeley, KCMX is an easy haul up I-80 or US 385 and one of the few prepped tracks in this corner of the plains.
