Profile

What riders find at Powder Basin Motocross.

Powder Basin Motocross in Gillette, Wyoming has been promoting safe off-road riding since 1993. The property is a sand track in the Powder River Basin coal country of northeastern Wyoming, in a region where commercial motocross facilities are uncommon and the operating model depends on grassroots community support. The Powder River Basin setting matters operationally. Coal country northeast Wyoming has the kind of high-desert climate and open terrain that produces dry, fast-drying surfaces, and the sand-based track holds up reasonably across the active riding season. The sand profile is the property's defining surface. The racing calendar is anchored by 2 races per year in the High Plains Motocross Association points series. HPMA is the regional racing organization that supports competitive motocross across the northern High Plains, and Powder Basin's role as a host venue puts the property on the formal regional calendar. The Gillette location is in Campbell County, northeastern Wyoming. Sheridan is about 90 minutes northwest, Casper is roughly two hours southwest, and Rapid City, South Dakota is about two and a half hours east. The position serves the broader northeast Wyoming and western South Dakota region, which is a sparsely populated area where local motocross infrastructure depends on community commitment to survive. Three decades of continuous operation under safe-riding programming is what defines the Powder Basin operating identity. (307) 622-0570 or powderbasinmotocross@gmail.com for the current schedule.
