The Powder River Basin setting matters operationally. The sand profile is the property's defining surface. The racing calendar is anchored by 2 races per year in the High Plains Motocross Association points series. HPMA is the regional racing organization that supports competitive motocross across the northern High Plains, and Powder Basin's role as a host venue puts the property on the formal regional calendar. The Gillette location is in Campbell County, northeastern Wyoming. Sheridan is about 90 minutes northwest, Casper is roughly two hours southwest, and Rapid City, South Dakota is about two and a half hours east.
